  • I hear Brazil is rough
I have a friend there but he is quite wealthy. I handn’t realized how poor the country was. My friend who just got back this last Sunday from Brazil left all of his jewelery, his iPod, his sonicare toothbrush anything that could potential be stolen or taken. I didn’t realize it was that bad down there.
But I guess a rich man’s perspective of the country is a bit different then a poor man’s perspective.

      Poor?
that word pisses me off the more i travel through “3rd world” countries..
Poor is something our style of culture creates..
where we work our asses off doing stuff that doesn’t relate to our survival
      and
      in many cases
      life
making lots of money at it
      and paying other people
      who do the same
to do the things we don’t want to do
manufacturing a completely disjointed way of being
to relax in luxury (every once in a while)
but people who work hard every day
and have wonderful food (though not such a wide variety)
and a community that helps them with food and clothing
      ritual and celebration
that is not poor to me..
      our culture erases that
      erases the lusciousness of life
      in exchange for artifice
… oh, sometimes i´m an angry boy
      but
      anyway
      yeah
      Poor
it´s getting poorer and poorer as we tap into its life and suck it out
as… “we the corporations” do everywhere.
      anyway
      yeah
      Brazil
      good example
      beautiful place
      huge separation of wealth..
      i was there last year
did you read my journal enteries about it?
      that´s when i started LJ
      January of 2004
      it´s fucking nuts
      but… amazingly beautiful
and… a bit more “worldly” than here.
      i´m grumbly..

  • so happy to find your post here
so aghast when saw about getting your camera snatched
    remember:
when people are staring at you, that more than your hair/your look
you radiate love and life and light…and people see that
    and want that
and whatever feels like contempt for you or your looks
is a deep hunger for light and life and a need for love.
and yeah, easy for me to say…
    be safe, drink deeply

    • You are so correct. It took me years to realize that people’s attraction didn’t always come from what I saw in the mirror, but what came from within. I still struggle with outward appearance, but over the last few years some of the most amazing people have been placed in my path. After so many years of self-imposed isolation these people have made me feel more alive than I have ever been. I feel like I’m discovering a whole new world, a new life that I found after crossing a threshold.
