Missionary (Sleeper) Grass

when i arrived here
normand told me that they didn’t often walk barefoot here
because of the lava rock everywhere
and the “sleeper grass”
the sleeper grass i knew as “sensitivity plant”
— i think my mother had it in a pot
you know, you touch at leaf and they all fold up and wilt (for a little while)
but here
this shit was everywhere
and had thorns all over it
it only took a few of those thorns in my feet
to begin a weeding vendetta against it
i got it all out of my garden
and the last few weeks
i pull it up ANYwhere i see it
the volley ball court
random lawns
other people’s houses
parks
etc…
it’s nasty shit
and has long roots connecting it to other plants underground.
Kelly came back over to my yurt today
the first time since i’ve been here
didn’t really compliment me on what i’d been doing
but when i pointed out that plant to him
he said
“oh yeah, missionary grass”
what? i thought it was “sleeper” … why do you call it Missionary?
” the missionaries brought it over here — to force the Hawaiians to stop going barefoot: they wanted to get them in shoes ”
fucking EVIL.
i’ve always perceived wearing shoes all the time is the primary thing that distorts humans from understanding their connection with nature
— separate them from their root chakra connection
and it allows them be believe that nature is Other than them
and they can abuse it as much as they like
i rarely say the word Evil
how come the missionaries are so fucking EVIL?

the next ruler decided that all of their beliefs were obviously wrong
(because they couldn’t encompass a race of people like that… a whole other world… that had nothing to do with their strange intricate laws)
so he abolished their culture
and ENLISTED Missionaries from England to come and Civilize them
sold their souls to the devil
oh well… they’re building a new Super Walmart here soon…
