The game of catch
Taught to most children
Goes on
Only if you throw the ball back
What game is this
R?… N?…
Where we find
Silence
And scrabble about for the ball
After it’s long been returned
Or pale substitutes
Rocks…
Perhaps I never thee it back to you…
Like the hundreds of emails I’ve received unread
Or maybe I use those to toss back…
Catch
How many conversations end in silence?
Mine or yours…
Hearts waiting for a return
Little bird
Dropping seeds
As if a surprise gift
For all our hearts’ persistent yearnings

Well, I hope you find (and enjoy) your birthday e-mail greeting from me.
A friend of mine (mostly straight) taught me to appreciate friendship in a unique way. We will never meet. But his way of introducing himself to me was to take a whole bunch of wet pix, just the way I like it. Since then we e-mailing back and forth frequently.
I don’t push him any more. I know that we’ll never meet. But it took me 2 years to realize that he has done as much as he can, and that I need to accept his love for what it is; Beautiful!
